Meet Marit Larsen.

She may be remembered as the lighter-haired half of Norwegian teen pop duo M2M, Marit Larsen would play guitar and write songs alongside childhood friend Marion Raven and produce hit singles such as "Don't Say You Love Me", and "Everything You Do", all at the tender age of sixteen.

After M2M's breakup in 2002, whilst Marion chose to pursue a solo career in attempts to become the next Ashlee, Marit came back, showing off a folkier, more acoustic side to her songwriting abilities, with influences such as those of Jenny Lewis
and Fionna Apple

Releasing her solo debut album, Under The Surface in 2006, at the age of only twenty-two, Marit shows us musical maturity beyond her years, with songs that drizzle the ears with dreamy, girlish delight, on top of a harmonica, banjo, and a jazzy piano.

Winning Best Norwegian act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006, among other musical recognitions, if you just so happen to be looking for the best sort of pop music being made outside of the US/UK, consider this your whisper in the ear.
