File Wormwood Brothers new release Spider Lake [Shaky Boots, 2007] under “atmospheric, alt-country tinged melodic southern rock” but only if you must classify their music. This album is a “grower” full of twists and turns that keep you wondering just how to classify them. Outside from an obvious infusion of steel guitar and stylized twang, you can also hear episodic melodies that pay respect to the likes of the Beatles, Gram Parsons and even Elliott Smith.
