Still trying to touch and reach you, Elliott, with heart and soul.
This year, the work of some wonderful people out there have helped to keep Elliott’s memory and music alive – hopefully new audiences will come to know his music.
Mixed by Elliott Smith archivist Larry Crane, Kill Rock Stars has released a 24-track, double c.d./l.p. primarily made up of unreleased songs from the years 1994-1997 and is entitled New Moon. You can order directly from the Kill Rock Stars site here. A portion of the sales proceeds, in Elliott’s name, will be donated to Outside In, a Portland-based organization recognizing the needs of homeless youth and other low-income and marginalized people.
To be released on October 25 is Autumn De Wilde’s photographs of Elliott in a book simply called Elliott Smith. Also included will be a live CD of unreleased solo acoustic performances as well as interviews with Elliott’s friends and family. You can Pre-Order from Amazon here.
And just this past weekend, Elliott was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame further demonstrating his continued influence on the music world. Read about the October 14th event here.
The Elliott Smith Memorial Fund also continues to provide help to Free Arts For Abused Children. Both the Outside In and Free Arts donations are tax deductible contributions under section 501(c)(3)of the IRS code. Give generously in Elliott’s honor if you are able.
